The New Albany School of Career & Technical Education (CTE) is located on the campus of New Albany High School and services New Albany School District and Union County School District. New Albany School District serves as the fiscal agent for this school which offers twelve unique programs in career and technical education. The CTE currently serves more than 500 part-time students.
OUR PURPOSE
Career and Technical Education is critical to our state’s economic development as we help train a qualified workforce for today’s competitive job market. Our research-based programs meet national and/or accreditation standards. They also constantly evolve in response to changing workforce needs. Career and Technical Education courses help students develop marketable job skills and earn national industry certifications needed to achieve their occupational goals.

Jeff Covington
In partnership with Toyota, the 4T Program mission is to provide students an innovative education experience that couples hands-on learning with on-the-job training, while preparing for a successful and rewarding career. This program is a member of the SkillsUSA student organization.

Bert Anderson, Instructor
Diversified Agriscience is composed of four, one credit courses. Principles of Agriscience is the first course in the Diversified Agriscience program sequence and must be taken in the 9th or 10th grade. After Principles of Agriscience is completed, the other three courses, Veterinary Science, Plants Core, and Capstone, may be taken anytime during 9th-12th grades. This program is a member of the FFA Student Organization.


Jonathan Garrison
Automotive Service is a comprehensive two year program of instruction and hands on experiences designed to help students acquire the skills needed to enter the automotive repair field. This program is a member of the SkillsUSA student organization.



Alison Moore, Instructor
Business, Marketing & Finance is designed to educate, train, and provide guidance for secondary vocational students who seek to develop the knowledge, skills, and behavioral characteristics necessary for successful entry level employment in office occupations for the twenty-first century. This program is a member of the FBLA student organization.



Jon Robbins
Construction is a class that covers basic safety, construction math, hand tools, power tools, construction drawing, electric, masonry and plumbing. It is a very hands on class and a successful student is one who enjoys working with their hands and being in the shop.
Students can earn the NCCER Blue Card which documents their training and can be an asset in getting a job, especially in the construction industry. This program is a member of the SkillsUSA student organization.



Ashley Fondren
Culinary Arts is a two-year program focused on students gaining skills in food safety, culinary techniques, and basic management to prepare for careers or further education in the food service industry. This program is a member of the FCCLA student organization.


Chris Russell, Instructor
Multimedia emphasizes the techniques and tools used in digital media and the creative design of such media. The course focuses on the basic areas of computer graphics, multimedia, animation and video production. The students are also exposed to state-of-the-art equipment. This program is a member of the TSA student organization.


Kevin Wigington, Instructor
Drafting (I & II) is designed to give students technical knowledge and help them develop manual skills in the use of drafting for industrial, manufacturing, and construction use. The skills they obtain will enable them to enter occupations in machine drafting as well prepare them to continue their training in related occupations such as engineering or architecture.


These courses include an introduction to personal and professional preparation for continued education, training, and careers in early childhood, as well as curriculum planning and the development of age-appropriate activities and lesson plans that encompass all areas of child development and administration and management techniques needed in order to operate a successful, quality child care facility. Students will participate in field experience, internships, and job-shadowing. This program is a member of the FCCLA student organization.



Latrina Bynum, Instructor
Engineering program at CTE includes topics related to pre-engineering, robotics, and automated manufacturing. Students gain hands-on experience applying engineering concepts, developing critical thinking, problem-solving, CAD, and technical skills for workplace success. The program prepares students for careers and further study in engineering and STEM fields. This program is a member of the TSA student organization.

Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) courses prepare students for living in the real world and helps them develop leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, critical-thinking, communication, computer, and mathematical skills. These courses enhance students’ leadership potential and essential life skills and encourage life-long learning.


April Voyles, Instructor
The Health Science program introduces students to careers available in the health field, basic anatomy and physiology, and basic patient care skills. Upon completion of this course, students will be trained to be entry-level general basic healthcare assistants and trained in CPR and first aid. Students will be able to make an informed choice of a health occupation that they plan to pursue. This program is a member of the HOSA student organization.



Jalon Bullock, Instructor
CSE is a complete study in technology literacy, the design process, emerging technologies, computer-aided design, sustainable design and technology, power and energy, robotics simulation, financial and economic literacy, and workplace skills for the 21st century. The STEM Applications curriculum framework is built upon 21st Century Skills Standards, ACT College Readiness Standards, and the National Educational Technology Standards for Students. This course is a member of the TSA student organization.


Stephanie Gregg, Instructor
This course provides authentic work experiences evaluated by business and industry partners that refine the technical and employability skills used in the workplace. Students should demonstrate quality technical work and strong employability skills. Activities could include but are not limited to clinicals/worksite field experiences, entrepreneurship, internship, pre-apprenticeships, school-based enterprises, job placements, and simulated worksites.

Christy Paul, Coordinator
Student Services Coordinators are teachers who provide instructional, career, collaborative, and supportive assistance to career and technical education students.Collaborations include parent, community, business and industry along with working within the school system to best promote success for career and technical education students. Focus is also on recruitment, enrollment, instruction, retention, placement, and follow-up of students preparing for high-skill, high-wage, high demand occupations and/or nontraditional employment in new and emerging careers.
